UFC Lightweight "Creepy" Joe Lauzon out for 12-14 months ACL surgery

Well, it looks like I will be having ACL surgery next week. I have had a history of bad luck with my knees. I have already had two knee surgeries… meniscectomies on both knees. Those surgeries were relatively simple because they just go in arthoscopically and shave down the meniscus. There is no stitching and no repairing done.
The surgery scheduled for next week will not be so simple. Unlike the last two times, I will need my meniscus repaired. Instead of just shaving that little piece out, they will be stitching it up and getting it to sit back in place.
To make things much worse, I need to have my ACL repaired as well. They think my torn ACL is causing my knee to shift ever so slightly and its destroying my meniscus. They could stop after the meniscus repair but its just going to happen again. ACL surgery should fix that, but its a very long rehab and my knee may never be the same again. There are three options for the surgery (patella, hamstring and cadaver). Each has different advantages and disadvantages. I was going to do the Patella but have been convinced to go the Cadaver route.
Long story short… I will be off my feet for a month to a month and a half… training SUPER light in about 4 or 5 months… training decently hard in about 9 months and fighting in around 12-14 months. Its going to be a long rehab… but thats how it goes.
Looks like I will have lots of time to play Xbox… (and no, not giving out my gamertag… sorry)

UFC and MMA Highlights KOs and Submissions
Really nice HL video. The old school guy in the white shorts and white knee pads is Royce Gracie's older brother Rickson.
News & Notes
-Former UFC LHW champ Rampage Jackson and UFC veteran Keith Jardine will face off at UFC 96. If Rampage wins he will fight Jardine’s training partner and friend LHW champ Rashad Evans. If Rampage losses to Jardine the title shot may go to undefeated karate fighter Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida as Jardine has said he would not fight Rashad.
-Rumors have resurfaced that WAMMA HW Champion Fedor Emliananko could sign with the UFC possibly for a match at UFC 100. Although, this is still speculation UFC president Dana White and owner Lorenzo Fertitta have recently expressed interest in signing the P4P best fighter in the world.
-UFC Veteran Din Thomas (23-8) signs a 3 fight contract with Affliction MMA. Din will be a marquee name that can help to build Afflictions featherweight division. It also, helps to quiet speculation that Affliction might fold before its third event set for later this summer.
Greasegate now on youtube
Greasegate Faq's
-During UFC's title fight between George St. Pierre (GSP) and BJ Penn. Chuck Liddell who was sitting ringside was the first to point out to the commission that GSP's corner was illegally applying Vaseline to GSP's body.
-Commission officials immediately stepped in and took away the Vaseline from GSP's corner and also wiped GSP down with towels.
-After the fight BJ Penn complained to the commission that because of GSP’s illegal use of Vaseline on his body he was unable to use his primary weapon of Jiu Jitsu to effectively defend himself and that this put him in danger of serious injury
-Several of GSP’s opponents such as Matt Hughes, Sean Sherk, and Mayhem Miller came out after the fight and also acknowledged that they felt that GSP felt slick during their fight and Mayhem said that he smelt the familiar scent of Vaseline which he is familiar with during his Muay Thai sparring matches.
-GSP denied that he greased his body in order to gain an advantage. He said that his trainer Phil Nurse was applying Vaseline to his face and afterwards rubbed his back and chest. This was actually an energy ritual that involved GSP’s witch doctor/trainer sliding his hands over GSP’s chest and back. GSP said that if there was any Vaseline on his trainers hand after covering his face that it was not enough to have any barring on the outcome of the fight and totally accidental.
-The commission responded to the controversy by enacting new rules that only cut men such as “Stitch” could apply Vaseline to a fighter’s face.
-Dana White later said that he agreed with the commission that this was illegal for GSP’s corner to apply Vaseline to their fighter. But White also said that GSP was not involved with the incident and that it made no difference in the outcome of the fight.

Randy agrees to face Noguiera
Former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion Randy "The Natural" Couture has signed a fight agreement to face former Pride and UFC Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The matchup could possibly happen at UFC 101 rumored to take place in Portland, Oregan.
Randy originally turned down the fight with Nogueira due to his prior commitments to the Sylvester Stallone action movie "The Expendables". Now that Randy has finished with filming, he will be setting his sights on fellow veteran MMA legend Nogueira.
This fight has been discussed in fantasy forums for several years as both Randy and Nogueira have been two of the best heavyweights in the sport for more than a decade. Both fighters are coming off KO losses and will be looking to get back on the winning track. Randy lost to Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 and Nogeira lost to Frank Mir at UFC 92.
Frank Mir the current UFC HW champ and Brock Lesnar the interim UFC HW champ are set to square off later this year at UFC 98 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
WEC Lightweight Champ Jaime Varner and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone re-match
WEC Lightweight Champion Jaime Varner and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone rumored re-match could take place later this summer. The two had originally fought in a very entertaining five round championship bout in January.
Jamie Varner was booed after he was unable to continue, due to an idadvertant eye poke from Cerrone and ended up winning a close decision. Varner also, sustained a broken foot and at first thought that his eye injury was possibly career ending. After further medical testing, Varner is expected to recover fully from his injuries and will be ready to face Cerrone a second time.
